Professor Emeritus John Kelly 1935-2022
It was with great sadness that we learned of the death of our Founding Chairman Professor Emeritus John Kelly. John passed away on 12 November 2022 and Bethlehem was on his mind to his last hours. His final act as Chairman was to launch the FBUI Christmas Appeal 2022 the day before he left this world. The prayers of the community in Bethlehem University meant a lot to him and were richly earned by a man who dedicated so much of his life to helping his neighbours across international, political and social divides.
Speaking of his passing, Brother Peter Bray, Vice Chancellor of Bethlehem University, said "We need to thank God for the wonderful opportunity we had to have him as part of our lives over so many years." Dr. Irene Makhoul/Hazou, Vice President for Academic Affairs at the University noted that "His support to Bethlehem University and its mission was unwavering. He was so dynamic and a powerhouse that it is hard to imagine him gone."
